A vibrant and community-focused secondary school in the heart of Matlock, Derbyshire, currently rated as 'GOOD' by Ofsted, is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Caretaker to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

As a School Caretaker, you will be an integral part of our school’s operations, responsible for the maintenance, security, and safety of the school premises. Your duties will not only include the upkeep of the buildings but also grounds maintenance and facilitating a positive environment for our diverse school community.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducting regular checks and maintenance of the school buildings and grounds to ensure they are in good repair and safe.
*
Managing the opening and closing of the school premises, including setting security alarms.
*
Performing minor repairs (e.g., fixing furniture, changing light bulbs, minor plumbing issues) and maintaining school equipment.
*
Ensuring that external areas are litter-free and that pathways are clear and safe.
*
Coordinating with external contractors for more extensive repairs and maintenance.
*
Assisting with the setup and clearance of the school hall or classrooms for events and activities.
*
Managing heating and cooling systems to provide a comfortable environment throughout the school year.
*
Adhering to health and safety policies and procedures to minimize risks.

Requirements:
*
Experience in building maintenance, handy work, or a similar role; experience in schools or similar settings is highly preferred.
*
Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices.
*
Physical fitness, as the role involves manual work including lifting and carrying.
*
Good organizational and communication skills.
*
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
*
Flexibility to attend to emergency call-outs outside of normal working hours.
*
A commitment to the ethos and values of the school.
*
DBS clearance.
